One of Kitimat’s oldest operating clubs is threatened with extinction – Kitimat Northern Sentinel
The Nechako Toastmasters Club is currently seeking additional members.
In recent times, the club has experienced an extreme drought of new members.
The club has been suspended by Toastmasters International unless membership can increase.
The club needs a total of eight members to be able to continue its activity and currently has only five members. It may be the last week of the group’s existence if it fails to secure three more members.
“There seems to be a lot of interest, but very little follow-up,” Wanda Shaw wrote in a note to those who have expressed interest in joining.
The local Toastmasters club is one of the oldest in Kitimat, having started in 1957.
Toastmasters is a non-profit educational organization that teaches people about public speaking and leadership skills.
All meetings zoom in and take place every second and fourth Thursday until it is possible to meet in person again. For those who are interested, please contact Shaw at 250-639-0336 or email [email protected]
