Dominica-born islander leads Caribbean Toastmaster clubs at the highest price
Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) Brenda Maynard who was born Paix Bouche, Dominique and moved to Sint Maarten at a young age, led Toastmasters’ Clubs of the Caribbean to win the highest honor recognized by Toastmasters International – Smedley Distinguished. This is the first time in history that District 81 – Caribbean Toastmasters has achieved this status.

His leadership really reflected that goal and placed an unforgettable, super plush feather in the Toastmaster of the Caribbean cap. District Manager Maynard congratulates Toastmasters International for structuring and developing their leadership skills. She has been able to apply these tools and methods in her professional and personal life, which has brought her great success and opportunities to further develop her communication and leadership skills. “Today, thanks to all of our District 81 Toastmasters, we all have the privilege of saying, ‘District 81 – Smedley Distinguished! Celebrating every little step brings automatic success, so every Toastmaster who has completed their journey has contributed to the success of District 81. ”
Toastmasters’ Smedley Distinguished Award is named after the organization’s founder, Ralph Smedley. This non-profit educational organization teaches communication and leadership skills. Of the 122 global districts, to date only four have achieved the Smedley Distinguished level, of which District 81 is proud to be in the cream of the crop. The Smedley Distinguished Award is presented to Districts which, over a 12-month period, have maintained eight percent growth in three areas: Paid Clubs, Membership, and Distinguished Clubs. District 81 has been successful in securing 199 paid clubs, retaining and growing membership to nearly 5,000 members, and celebrating the fact that more than 148 clubs are getting the Distinguished Club Award, and those numbers are expected to increase by here June 30, 2021 – the end of the Toastmaster year.
Equally impressive is that District 81 is the only district in the Western Hemisphere to achieve Smedley Distinguished status beating North and South America.
