Doha Toastmasters Club celebrates 25 years
The Doha Toastmasters Club, the first Toastmasters club in Qatar, recently celebrated its 25th anniversary in a hybrid meeting attended by members and leaders from District 116, adhering to the Covid-19 protocol.
The Jubilee Jamboree was virtually attended by Toastmasters International President Margaret Page. She congratulated the club members on the 25th anniversary and for maintaining the distinguished status of the president throughout the event.
The meeting was opened by Sergeant-at-Arms Kesavraj Sampathkumar. Doha Toastmasters Club President Atul Hardas congratulated all leaders and members and remembered all the visionary leaders who dedicated their services to make the club stronger for 25 years. Event Committee Chairman Girish Jain recalled the founding of the club in 1996. Master of Ceremonies Sunil Kumar Menon made the celebration memorable with the theme ‘Jubilee Jamboree’.
Founding member Sonny Varghese spoke about the history of Doha Toastmasters Club and District Manager Manzoor Moideen congratulated the members and wished more success in the years to come.
Niloufer Samal encouraged leaders to share their Toastmasters journey. Rajeswar Sundaresan, Ram Mohan Rai, Anil Nair, Abdul Nasser and Rajshekhar Kalyanshetty shared their fond memories with the club.
Newsletter Eloquence was published by Akash Bhutada and Ian Dmello. Jayakumar Menon led a quiz session. A comedy skit on “Fun with Dr Charlie” was performed by Girish Jain and club members. Shashant presented his speech which was evaluated by Adam Abdi. Vaishali Mehra of Toastmasters led the awards session where all past presidents, officers and members of the club were recognized for their service. Vice President (Education) Sundar Vadivelu offered a vote of thanks. Milton Swaminathan was the timekeeper and Amarnath Baburajan handled technical responsibilities.
