Burbage resident wins best speaker award in online ceremony
A man from Burbage has won the highest honor in public speaking from an international education group.
Danny Banks has been awarded Toastmaster Of The Year by international public speaking organization Toastmasters International.
Toastmasters International is an educational, nonprofit organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills through a global network of clubs.
Mr Banks said: “It was a particular honor to receive this award.
“There are a lot of people in the organization working hard to make it a success.
“I really enjoyed every moment of my time and wanted to put something back into the organization. It’s a pleasure to be recognized in this way.”
Toastmaster of the Year for District 71 (covering the whole of the Midlands and the North of England, Scotland and Ireland) recognizes the work that Mr Banks has undertaken for the organisation.
He has organized clubs in the Midlands, is responsible for the training and development of Toastmasters throughout the district and is a member of the local Leicester Leaders club.
Mr Banks has been a Toastmaster for the past six years with Leicester Leaders and is also a member of an online club based in Ireland.
He received the award during an online Hall of Fame presentation held in December.
